Saving 8-bit Images with ACES/OCIO
ACES and OCIO can be used to output tone mapped 8 and 16-bit images that effectively match the highest quality 32-bit output. These 8 or 16-bit images will not have the latitude of a full 32-bit image, however. This tone mapping is handled by ACES/OCIO directly; the original tone mapping in Octane should NOT be used for this.
The illustration below shows the proper settings required for 8-bit image output with ACES. Set the Buffer Type to LDR (8-bit) and set the Color Space to **OCIO > Output > Output-sRGB.** This output will match the result in Live Viewer with the image saved from Live Viewer, when using OCIO. Save via the standard Cinema 4D Save panel and options.
