Definition

Dark patterns are a series of deceptive UX designs that abuse human psychology to trick, pressure or mislead users into doing things they don’t want.
Ethical design helps raise the standard for visual work by establishing behaviors and actions that are acceptable in the professional community and for clients.

How they relate

Our responsibility as UX Designers is to be aware of ethical issues and at least try to not create unethical designs. Through this course, when we design our projects, we are able to realize ethical needs (transparency, diversity, well-being etc.) through evaluation methods, such as expert checklist and peer testing to avoid dark patterns and improve the overall user experience.
