This section covers how to import the resources to Animcraft with the contents that have already been exported from digital contents creation (DCC) applications like Maya, 3ds Max, Blender and so on).

Please notice this section won’t cover how to export contents from DCC applications, if you want to know how to export contents from DCC applications, please read each section of them, such as:

Import Maya-exported Resources

maya上传.mp4 (3.84MB) Maya yields .acd resources, and there are 2 methods to import .acd file into Animcraft.

  1. Select one folder on the left resource tree.
  2. Drag and drop any .acd file into the 3D viewport, the viewport will turn into blue color with an import button showing up. Click the import button and give it a name to finish the process.
  3. You can also use File > Import Motion Files to import your resources. It’s almost the same as the drag and drop method but different UI operation.

Import 3ds Max-exported Resources

new导出动画.mp4 (4.93MB) 3ds Max yields the resources with more files than Maya and it contains .max source, FBX, materials, models, textures, and motion, they will be stored in a folder.

  1. Select a place in Animcraft resource tree and export the 3ds Max resources directly to that location.
  2. Export 3ds Max resources to anywhere and copy the folder to your Animcraft resource repository.

Tip
In Animcraft main window, right-click any resource in the list and click Open Folder, you can find locate the resource repository, see Folder Management and Resource Management.

Import FBX

  • To import FBX, you can directly drag and drop it into Animcraft 3d viewport. And window will turn into blue color with an import button showing up.
  • After importing, you can retarget it and extract motion from the FBX. see Work with FBX.
