杜比全景声制作套件(DAPS)和母版套件(DAMS)有什么不同

What is the difference between the Dolby Atmos Production Suite and Mastering Suite?

The Dolby Atmos Renderer software is required to create Dolby Atmos masters by recording Bed and Object audio and panning/size metadata from a DAW. It is also required to playback (or “Render”) an Atmos mix or master file to loudspeakers or headphones (stereo or binaural). Some of these capabilities are also integrated into a few DAWs such as Avid Pro Tools, Steinberg Nuendo and Blackmagic Designs Resolve. The Dolby Atmos Renderer software also allows for Re-renders (channel-based output), authoring of Binaural Render Mode metadata, trim and downmix mode metadata, Loudness Analysis, and MP4 exports.

There are two versions of the Dolby Atmos Renderer software.

The Dolby Atmos Production Suite is designed to run on the same Mac as the DAW and provides a single workstation environment/workflow to create Dolby Atmos content for Post or Music. Compatible and qualified DAWs include Ableton Live, Apple Logic Pro, Avid Pro Tools Ultimate, Blackmagic Designs Resolve and Steinberg Nuendo. Audio is passed to the Renderer using the Dolby Audio Bridge core audio engine. The physical Audio interfaces used may not need to accommodate more channels than used for monitoring. While this solution is simple there are a few limitations to be aware of:

  • When using HDX hardware with Avid Pro Tools Ultimate, DSP versions of plug-ins are not available
  • The DAW and the Dolby Atmos Renderer are using the same CPU. Depending on the complexity of the content (track count, heavy automation, CPU intensive plug-ins, Object count and panning/metadata density) overload conditions can occur.
  • Drive read/write speeds can also be an issue.

When used with a sufficiently powerful Mac and separate drives these limitation can be managed in most circumstances.

A 90 day trial of the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite is available here . It can be purchased directly from Avid.

The Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite is the flagship solution designed to run on a separate dedicated PC or Mac workstation with MADI or Dante I/O. It is compatible and qualified with Avid Pro Tools, Blackmagic Designs Resolve, Steinberg Nuendo configured with appropriate I/O.

Benefits of using the Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite include: The Dolby Atmos Mastering Suite can be purchased from authorized Dolby Resellers .

  • A dedicated workstation, CPU and drives for Atmos mastering and monitoring capable of handling any mastering job.
  • The ability to use DSP plug-ins using low latency HDX hardware with Pro Tools Ultimate
  • Monitor calibration with EQ and speaker delays if these functions are not available with an external monitor controller.
  • The ability to use a Sync HD with Avid Pro Tools for external device synchronization.
  • The ability to handle a multiple DAW or Source/Recorder workflow
  • The ability to run the Renderer Remote application on any PC or Mac on the same network
