occur

  1. occur意为“出现”，指单纯的发生。句型occur to sb / sth意为“突然想起某人或某事”。

happen

  1. happen意为“碰巧发生”，特指那些偶然的或非预知的事件的发生。
  2. 主语如果是事物，则有“偶然发生”之意。
  3. 主语为人时，则指“某人碰巧……”。

    I happened to see one of my high school classmates two days ago. (两天前我碰巧遇见一位高中同学。)

take place

  1. take place意为“举行，举办”，一般指非偶然性事件的发生，即按照计划或安排必然会发生的事情。
