  1. spend的主语通常是人，宾语则可以是时间或钱。

  2. sb spend time / money on sth，意思是“某人在某事上花了多少时间⁄ 钱”。

  3. sb spend time / money (in) doing sth，意思是“某人在做某事方面花 了多少时间⁄钱”。

    Mrs. Smith spends a lot of money in entertaining friends. (史密斯太太在招待朋友这方面花了很多钱。)

  4. spend money for sth，意思是“花钱买……”。其后不可接不定式。

cost

  1. cost的主语通常是事或物，不能是人。

  2. cost若不表示“花费”，而是表示“客观上或被动的耗费”，则也可用人作主语，宾语通常是钱。

    This DVD player cost me two thousand dollars.(这台DVD放映机花了我 2000美元。)

  3. cost也可用来表示付出代价(劳力、精力、生命等)。

    This car accident cost him twenty thousand dollars. (这次的交通事故花了他两万美元。)
