  • Operational reliability - integrity and availablility of data must be guarantee
  • Processing in a suitable place - process time-sensitive data closer to the source

  • Monitor data across large area - Things may be in diverse, disperse and harsh environment

  • Level 1-4 of the IoT Reference Model work with data in motion.

  • This part of the IoT is event-driven - the sensors respond to their environment and pass a message signalling the event to the Gateways/Cloud
